Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

At Hjem Studios, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. We will always handle your information with care and transparency.

Hjem Studios is operated by Amanda Laura Helms, a sole trader registered in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach us at: hjemstudiosltd@gmail.com

1. What data we collect

When you use our website or become a member, we may collect the following:

Information you give us

  • Your name and email address (when you sign up for our newsletter or membership)

  • Payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we never store your card details)

  • Any information you share with us directly by email or message

Information collected automatically

  • Basic analytics data about how you navigate our website (via Squarespace Analytics)

  • Cookies used by Squarespace and Stripe to enable website functionality and secure payments

2. Why we collect it

We only collect data we genuinely need. Here is how we use it:

  • To provide you with access to your Hjem Studios membership and class library

  • To process your payments securely via Stripe

  • To send you The Hjem Letter and any membership communications you have opted into

  • To respond to your enquiries

  • To improve our website and understand how people use it

Our legal basis for processing your data is: contractual necessity (to deliver your membership), legitimate interests (to operate and improve the studio), and consent (for marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time).

3. Email communications

If you sign up to The Hjem Letter or become a member, you will receive emails from us. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out at any time and we will honour that request promptly.

We use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to manage our email list. Your email address is stored securely on their platform. You can read Kit’s privacy policy at kit.com.

4. Third-party services

We work with a small number of trusted third parties to run the studio:

We do not sell your data to any third party. Ever.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep your data only for as long as necessary:

  • Membership and payment records are kept for 7 years to comply with HMRC requirements

  • Email marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe

  • General correspondence is kept for up to 2 years

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data

  • Ask us to delete your data (the ‘right to be forgotten’)

  • Object to or restrict how we process your data

  • Withdraw consent for marketing at any time

To exercise any of these rights, please email us at hjemstudiosltd@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

7. Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small files stored on your device — to enable core functionality, process payments securely, and understand how visitors use the site. By using our website, you consent to the use of cookies as described here.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect your experience on the site.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
